Maverick Cooking Demo at Los Poblanos

I’m very much looking forward to next weekend’s cooking demo and book talk at the beautiful Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque! It takes place on Sunday, November 15, from 2 to 5 pm, and you can order your tickets here:

I’ll be making, and serving, five fabulous dishes from “The Maverick Cookbook: Iconic Recipes and Tales From New Mexico,” including the Palace Picadillo, which has become a favorite among those who’ve made it, and tasted it. I’ll also be making Angels on Horseback, a popular appetizer of bacon-wrapped oysters that dates to the late 19th century and was on Harvey House menus.  And I’ll be sharing stories about the mavericks in the book, and their lasting influence on New Mexico as well as the region’s cuisine.

Join me for this fun event at one of the most beautiful inns in all of New Mexico. Originally a working ranch, the inn  was designed in 1932 by architect John Gaw Meem, considered to be the “Father of Santa Fe Style,” and is on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Guests of the cooking demo will receive a 15% discount on rooms at the inn, if you’d like to stay overnight at this enchanted place. And the ticket price includes an autographed copy of the acclaimed “Maverick Cookbook!”

See you at Los Poblanos!
