Exciting news! The Maverick Cookbook is part of the Eat, Cook, Stay package being offered by Santa Fe’s historic La Fonda on the Plaza!
In addition to lodging and breakfast at the hotel’s La Plazuela restaurant, guests will receive an autographed copy of The Maverick Cookbook. And they’re encouraged to enhance their culinary experience with classes at the Santa Fe School of Cooking covering New Mexican food and cooking techniques.
La Fonda is a perfect pairing for the cookbook, as one of the book’s 12 chapters is devoted to Fred Harvey and the hotel was once a Harvey House, part of the country’s first restaurant chain that sprang up during the railroad era in the late 19th century. Had you been a guest at La Fonda when it was a Harvey House, you would have dined in style, with service from the famous Harvey Girls and gourmet food that had been shipped in via rail cars.
The Maverick Cookbook includes original recipes inspired by dishes served in Harvey Houses around the country that are easy to make at home.
